RealSurf i dont live at the beach (much as i sometimes wish i did), and when i go surfing ill end up all over sydney. this site is the best one ive come across, and id like to thank lucas for hooking me up, much as he always does when we are talking about surfing. it is full of honest reports from all up and down the coast and is regularly updated. the people behind it epitomise the surfer spirit.
Transworld Snowboarding still the best snowboarding news site on the web, and my window into the winter wonderland that i chase so much... i just wish theyd ditch all the popups and ads!
SLAP Magazine this wins best skateboarding new site on the web... up to date (and often pre-press release) gossip and info. i never thought much about the mag, but they got some balls with some of the calls they put up!
Thrasher Magazine my friend dre always gave me crap 'cause i read transworld rather than thrasher (and as a result hit their site more). it wasnt until recently that i really understood why. the content is just so much better in thrasher (or maybe im just more of a dirtbag, studded belt-wearing tranny-skating hessian). im hooked now, and i only check skateboarding.com every month or so to quickly see whats new, not theres ever that much. i just wish i had broadband so i could watch all the video clips!
Skateboard.com.au this site is australian skateboarding. it lists every park anywhere in the damn country and rates them honestly with pics and sometimes video. its forum is great for finding out where the elusive premieres are on. i know people who have set up whole trips based on the park guides and have taken a wrong turn (well not when trying to find the parks)...
CaPiTA snowboards if youve talked to me about snowboarding youll know one of my heroes is jason brown, this is a company he split from a long-term contract with burton to start. pretty much everything theyve done has blown me away, from ethics to designs and riders. i mean they have a board with a star wars lightsabre graphic and another called the 'black snowboard of deth'... i also hear they ride damn well.
Mike Vallely if you are still reading and havent already formed an opinion in your head about this site i applaud you. i freely admit i fan out over mike, and i dont agree with everything he says, but i champion his freedom to say it. he speaks from his heart and gets a lot of flak for it. he was, and i think still is, an amazing skater who doesnt stop giving to the sport of skating. he walks his own path, but he will stillbe here when a lot of the modern crop of 'superstars' have faded away (can anyone say 'alka-smolik?') read his journal and try to see what i find so amazing about him.
Australian Iyengar Yoga Assoc. damn hippies... want to try something that will strengthen your body and mind? find your local school and sign up for a few classes. if you go in open-minded i doubt youll come out unconvinced.
